Three levels of content editing are available:
Proofreading: This is the most basic service, providing correction of spelling, grammar, punctuation errors, and basic formatting. This service is appropriate if you are satisfied with all other compositional elements.
Basic copy editing: This includes proofreading, along with a review of sentence and paragraph structure, stylistic and factual consistency, clarity, word usage, logical flow, redundancies, cross-reference checking, and other fundamental elements of composition.
Substantive copy editing: This includes all the above along with in-depth suggestions for the overall improvement of content. It will involve a partial or major rewrite, and may include fact checking and research. This service may be appropriate for manuscripts, theses, and other major documents. It may also be helpful to writers for whom English is a second language (ESL).
